About this listing
arc42 is an open-source template and method for documenting and communicating software and system architecture. It gives teams a structured way to record architecture information, decisions, quality requirements, system structures, and cross-cutting concepts without prescribing a specific technology or development process.
The approach is designed for agile, lean, and formal projects and can be used with systems ranging from embedded software to large information platforms. arc42 is available in multiple languages and formats, supports docs-as-code workflows, and is free to use for private and commercial work. The project also provides examples, detailed documentation, a canvas, quality-model resources, and architecture training.
